electriciansinireland.ie is a free directory and registration checker for electricians in Ireland, run by Dave Coleman. For data protection purposes, Dave Coleman is the data controller for this site.

What Data We Hold, and Why
Contractor listings. The directory lists publicly available information about electrical contractors, the business name, RECI registration number, registration status, trading address, the county and town derived from that address, the phone number and email. This is sourced from the Safe Electric register, the public register of RECI-registered electrical contractors, to help homeowners find and check a registered electrician. We rely on legitimate interest to process this limited, already-public business information.
Enquiries. When you send an enquiry through a contractor's listing, we collect the name, phone number, email and message you provide. Your enquiry goes straight to that contractor by email so they can reply, delivered by our email provider Resend, with the site operator copied so we can keep the directory working. It is never sold and is not passed to any lead broker. The form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to keep out automated abuse.
Listing correction and removal requests. When you ask us to correct or remove a listing, we collect the business name, registration number, listing link, your email and what you have asked us to change. Because we have had requests from people misrepresenting their connection to a business, we also record the IP address, approximate location, network provider and browser the request was sent from. We rely on legitimate interest to do this, to protect listed contractors from having their details altered or their listing deleted by someone else. It is used only to check a request is genuine, and is never used for marketing or shared with anyone else.
The contractor check tool. When you search a contractor's name on this site, your search term is used only to look up a match in our directory. We do not store your search queries or link them to you personally.
Basic analytics. We use standard web analytics to understand overall site traffic. This does not identify you personally and is not used for advertising.
How Long We Keep It
Contractor listing data is kept for as long as the directory operates, or until the business asks for it to be corrected or removed.
If You Are a Listed Contractor
If any detail in your listing is wrong, out of date, or you would like your business removed from the directory entirely, use the update or remove your listing form and we will action it promptly. Under data protection law you can ask us to:
- Correct inaccurate information about your business (Article 16)
- Remove your listing entirely (Article 17)
- Tell you what data we hold about your business (Article 15)
Use the listing update form with the business name and listing URL, and we will confirm once it is done.
Your Rights
You have the right to access, correct, or ask us to delete your data, and to object to how it is used. If you are unhappy with how we have handled a request, you can complain to the Irish Data Protection Commission at dataprotection.ie.
